MBSymba

What is MBSymba?

MBSymba is a collection of methods and procedures for the automatic generation of the equations of motion of multibody systems. With MBSymba you may easily define points, vectors, rigid bodies, forces and torques, specify constraints and kinematic chains. MBSymba automatically generate the equation of motions of your system, while you may inspect and manipulate them. Finally you may simulate your multibody system, convert equations into a Matlab/Fortan /C++ code, generate your report or web page.

Why do I need MBSymba?

MBSymba is a powerful tool for modelling multibody and multiphysics system and has been proficiently used for research, education and industrial applications.

Why is MBSymba different ?

I started developing MBSymba several years ago because I wanted to model multibody systems of medium complexity and I was unhappy of the (few) existing tools, so MBSymba has been developed from and for multibody users and its characteristics make MBSymba unique (for both merits and  lacks) in the panorama of available multibody software.

MBSymba is symbolic and you will take advantage of efficient symbolic simplifications while modelling your system and when deriving the equation of motions.

MBSymba is flexible: you choice the proper coordinate set (relative, absolute, Cartesian, even mixed) for your system, you define which coordinates are small (linear) and which are not, you choice the approach to derive the equation of motions (Netwon-Euler, Lagrange and even mixed). Finally, you may inspect and additionally manipulate the equations that MBSymba calculates for you.

MBSymba is optimized for vehicles modelling, as this is our main topic of interest.

MBSymba is efficient and may produce code optimized for real time application.

MBSymba is freely available for educational and research purposes (but you must buy your personal Maple license, as we do).

Even focused on rigid multibody mechanics, MBSymba is multiphysics and you may easily include model (equations) of any kind of dynamic system in the MBSymba framework.
