The aim of the project is to model and simulate the Colt M1911A1, newer version of the M1911, a single-action, semi-automatic, recoil-operated pistol, chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, with the software MSC Adams.
The first step of this work is to model and simulate the cocking and loading phases of the gun, in which the first cartridge, initially into the tube of the magazine, is pushed into the barrel of the pistol.
The next step is to model and simulate the firing phase of the gun, in which, starting from the drive of the trigger, several components are moved in order to generate the explosion of the gunpowder, ejection of the shell and so consequently reloading of the gun.
In particular, because of the no presence of data about the impulse of the explosion of the gunpowder, it will be represented with some approximations: the results will be verified with respect to the real performance of the gun. Continue reading

In this work the following studies have been carried out: kinematic analysis and optimization of a Pro Link suspension system, computation of the forces generated by a stoppie landing and finally an investigation about ground reduced stiffness’ variation due to structural flexibilty of the suspension. In this paper a 5-link suspension analysis will be carried out, reporting the performances of such mechanism in terms of car handling or comfort. The kinematic study of the model will show the importance of the position and orientation of each component of the suspension itself. In particular, this paper will focus on the effects produced on the characteristic curves due to some modifications in rods length. Moreover, the various measurements will be plotted per steering rotation.
This study technique usually find place in a design phase of a multilink project to obtain a desired value of camber or toe, as functions of the suspension bounce. Continue reading
